Which days of the week will I begin and end my charter?

Most charters have a duration of one week (or multiples), beginning on Saturday 17:00 and ending the following Saturday 11:00. Although the weekly schedule is preferable, Halcyon Sails is an organisation with flexible policies - always striving to accommodate your wishes for different days/ periods such as departure on any week day and/ or 10, 11 or 12-day charter (if possible).

What is included in the cabin charter fee? Are there any additional costs?

Charter fees include the rental cost of the yacht, inventory equipment, insurance of yacht, VAT (all taxes), fuel and marina fees, final cleaning, check-in/check-out, towels and linen. Additional excursions on islands are not included in the charter cost. Halcyon Sails guarantees you will have no unpleasant surprises (additional charges) since all costs are accounted for in advance.

What should I bring (and what shouldn't I bring)?

Nothing special, all you really need to bring are your personal items. As an example, bring your own beach towels, sun tan lotion, sunglasses/sunhat, camera, mosquito repellents and the like. In fact, it is better not to bring large or heavy suitcases due to the fact that there is not much space inside the boat. Oh, and NO HIGH HEELS!

What happens if i have a problem during my charter?

We have a network of associates and technicians all around Greece who share our high standards of service and customer care. This network is at your disposal 24 hours a day for any problem you may face.

Are Yachts equipped with Safety equipment and all necessary charts and pilot books?

Halcyon Sails only charters yachts with safety equipment according to the Greek law. All this equipment - such as fire extinguishers, life rafts, safety belts, life jackets, flares, EPIRB etc - ia inspected yearly. In addition to this, all our yachts provide specific charts and Rod Heikell’s Greek Waters Pilot book (in English).

Will I be seasick?

Sea sickness depends on you and your past experience. If you are worried about it, there is certain medication available (travel gums, bracelets, dramamines etc). Also, Our captains and skippers have the experience to recommend you “safe” itineraries in protected areas so as to avoid extreme conditions.

When would be the best time to book a yacht?

The sooner the better, to make sure you get on your preferred tour.

How do I get to the boat from the airport?

Transfers from Athens airport: Pick up the x96 bus which will bring you to the Alimos Marina, bus stop Eden (across the road from the marina) and costs only €6. A Taxi is around 50 euros, If 4 passengers are travelling together it'll cost around 13 euros each. A taxi to Lavrion port is 60 euros. Or if you prefer to have someone organise this for you, get in touch with Eudaimonia.

How do I find provisions?

When you arrive at the Marina we will sit down and discuss our trip and then have an opportunity to go to the the local supermarket to stock up on provisions. You will be able to do this at every destination. Whether you prefer to buy your produce locally from the mainland and the islands and cook on board, to eat out or a bit of both, It is your responsibility to pay for your food throughout the trip.

What happens at check-in?

You will be welcomed on board by your captain and skippers. You will be given a brief  introduction to get you acquainted with the yacht. You will have plenty of time to ask anything you do not understand or wish to know.
